Markus W. Eitle is a renowned professor at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, working at the Institute for Tourism, Wine Business and Marketing. His academic career began with an international undergraduate degree in horticultural sciences specialising in viticulture at the Technical University of Munich, Pontificia Universidad Catolica Santiago de Chile, University of Bologna and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna.

After successfully completing his dissertation, Markus dedicated his postdoctoral research project to the interaction between grapevine and phylloxera on biomolecular level. His work led to significant findings in the field of polyphenol synthesis, jasmonic and salicylic acid defence cascades in grapevine root tissue and the discovery of bioactive effector molecules from the insect’s salivary glands.

At IMC Krems, Markus Eitle expanded his field of research and leads scientific projects on applied viticulture, wine tourism, purchasing behaviour of wine consumers and labour shortage in the wine industry. His teaching activities include courses in viticulture & sustainability, quantitative data management & scientific writing as well as basic subjects in tourism management at the IMC locations in Krems, Baku-Azerbaijan and Tashkent-Uzbekistan. In addition to his dedicated teaching activities, the expert supervises diploma theses in the aforementioned subject areas and supports the internships within the bachelor's degree programmes International Wine Business as well as Tourism and Leisure Management.
