Dear Weinakademiker,
We are very happy to invite you to our 19th Weinakademiker Summer School from Tue, August 25 to Thu, August 27 2026 in Rust (Weinakademie Österreich, Seehof, 7071 Rust, Austria).
On Tuesday we will have the pleasure to experience the international super star Dr. José Vouillamoz, vine geneticist and co-author of Jancis Robinson’s MW “Wine Grapes”. Aside from a master class on Swiss grape varieties, he will also convince us that “grapes do have sex” 😊. The tastings will feature undiscovered treasures of the wine world. In the evening of the day the traditional Austrian Grand Tasting featuring more than 25 producers will take place at Austrian Wine Academy.
A full day wine study trip to Mittelburgenland will follow on Wednesday. After an introductory masterclass to the area in Deutschkreutz with leading producers, they will introduce participants in small groups to the homeland and the many terroirs of Blaufränkisch. At the end of the day all participating wineries will feature some of their mature vintages ranging back to the 1990ies in a walk around tasting in the fantastic Schaflerhof of Igler winery followed by a relaxed dinner.
On Thursday we will start with a masterclass on Corpinnat with Carles del Amor Navarro, Gerent Corpinnat and our sparkling wine specialist Frank Smulders MW. The tasting will feature world class Corpinnats from all leading producers. From Spain we will continue to Italy in L'Alt(r)o Piemonte. Dr. Norbert Reinisch, Weinakademiker from Braida winery will lead us through exciting alternative DOC's including Alta Langa und Alto Piemonte.

SAVE THE DATE – The Weinakademiker Graduation Ceremony 2026 will take place at Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt in the evening of Sat, 24 October 2026. Already on Fri, 23 October 2026 a tasting will feature super star winemakers from Spain, Italy, Germany, Croatia and Austria – all of them Weinakademiker. On the graduation day in the morning a panel tasting will focus on Riesling from Austria and Germany and a red wine panel tasting will feature aside from some classics undiscoverd red varieties from Spain, Italy, Germany and Croatia. Further details will follow in due course!
